I just read the book. I cried so hard. It was so good!

"If there were no God, there would be no atheists"

that's the stupidest quote i've read in a long time. you're implying one of two things. either
1) two negatives MUST equal a positive. therefore, if I deny that Bigfoot is real, then that automatically means that Bigfoot is real? If I deny that Santa Claus is real, then that means that he is real? That's a logical fallacy. X can be false, and one can say that X is false without making X true.

2) the defense of ANY position validates its opposite. that means that by defending the existence of God, you're implying there is no God. by defending the absence of God, you're implying there is one.
This isn't true. the CONCEPT of God exists, or else no one would be able to think about or talk about "god". however, a concept (like Santa Claus or Bigfoot) does not require the existence of the subject of the concept. if it did, UFO's, Bigfoot, Santa, the Chupacabra, Athena, Zeus would all be real.

"If there were no Santa Claus, there would be no one denying Santa Claus"

The meaning of atheists is as follows: "One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods. "

So in essence the quote makes perfect sense. Even a 9 year old child could see that. If there was no God..the obviously there would be no one around to deny this fact. Hence..no atheists..

Your comparing it to things such as Santa Claus, and UFOs is not only outrageous but an extreme stretch to make yourself look intelligent.

Secondly, besides Santa UFOs exist, since it only stands for an Unidentified Flying Object(could be anything flying over head that a person can't identify), no one has seen a big foot, but like god no one has seen him/her either, same goes with the chupacabra, you could even say the same about Athena and Zeus.

So next time you try and argue something is stupid..please please...make a valid someone smart argument...

I felt stupid just reading your argument..

On that note...Love the quote..

Just a cliffnote...you do know the book is in a serious of three, right? I just found out last year, but there are at least two other books in the series with talks of a third. Just FYI

I know I love all three of the books. I just finished the third one. I think the second one was the best. Even though I love them all!

Why should the world exist without me? That wouldn't be fair!

I saw the movie last Christmas and didn't think too much about it, just thought it was okay. But I just finished reading the book and remembered the movie and came here to read more about it and the movie. Books always are better than movies and this one was very good! I was surprised that there was a sequel to it and would love to read that one as well, also the third book, if there is one.

What made this book even more special and touching is that it's been just under six months since my mom passed away from lung cancer. I kept thinking about the last Christmas we had together and wish we had more.

The book was well written and offered more insight than the movie and I urge all those that saw the movie to read it.

I love it, too. I've read it ever Christmas since 2002. It cleanses my emotions. Now there is a fourth book and I read all four ever Christmas.

None of that made any sense. It's not ludicris to compare god with UFOS and Bigfoot and Ghosts. It's not even a stretch if you are honestly thinking abiout it. God is a paranormal being. He lives up in the sky with angels..not exactly on the normal realm, if he exhists, so if god can exhist, than so can UFOS and Aliens and the Loch Ness Monster and other things that have been said to exhist but seem ludicris that it could be true. I mean it's hard for people to beleive that there are ghosts and aliens from another planet, but they can beleive that a big man spirit in the sky, surrounded by angels dictates what will happen to them in death? It doesn't make sense.. There is no proof they they DO exhist but there is no proof that they don't either. As for Santa Claus, there may not be a guy that is flying with Reindeer, but there WAS really a St Nick who left presents. If you beleive in God, you should beleive that anything is possible, no matter how impossible it sounds.

reply

LOL. Like you sig. He is risen!

Can you fly this plane?
Surely you can't be serious.
