not to pick apart the movie but...(spoilers)

At the very end of the movie Rob Lowe is at his mother's grave and he sees, the boy in the red sox cap at Maggie's grave. The guy says he is in medical school, yet Rob Lowe hasn't aged a bit. Now, if the boy was about 10 when his mom died, and now he is in medical school...that's like 12-14 years that have passed....couldnt' they have atleast given Rob Lowe gray hair or something?

I don't know why this annoyed me so much..haha

In the beginning, it starts at present time then it goes back "10 years earlier". So, Rob Lowe was actually playing a man 10 years younger (for most of the movie). But I can understand the nitpick.

reply

great nitpick. i noticed that too.

It bothered me as well. It's something they could have fixed with some makeup.

The movie takes place in present time. That's 2002, when it was made. It goes back to 1985. That's 17 years! No one, and I mean no one, doesn't age a single bit in a 17 year span. Rob Lowe still looks young and hasn't aged much, but he looked a lot younger in 17 years ago.

reply

Rob Lowe has not aged in real life, so it isn't a big stretch that a character he plays wouldn't either.

reply

I just that even though the kid grew up rob looks close to the same but a bit older why wouldn't the kid recognize him that was definitely an important night of his life.

It's his 'blood type.'

Can you fly this plane?
Surely you can't be serious.
I am serious,and don't call me Shirley

I thought Rob's voiceover said at the beginning of the movie that this was 15 years later? Yeah, I thought that the boy should have noticed him and that Rob Lowe's character could have said something about the hat to make it more realistic. Such as, "I had one like it." or something

reply

I agree with everyone. There were a few goofs that could have made the overall quality of the movie much more realistic to the spirit of movies. But hey - things aren't perfect in real life. (And don't we all know it!)

reply

you said it! lol.

reply

I didn't see the beginning so I missed the ten years earlier. That explains why the kids didn't dress slutty.

reply

Do any of you remember a person you met for like 5 minutes 15 or 17 years ago?
