shareThe song's that powerful that it can cause you to end your life? Wow, none of the songs that annoy me(and believe me, some make me crazy) ever are enough to move me to suicide. lol

Writing is my favorite hobby. Writing something that many can enjoy is my favorite dream.
I commented on you tube on how rediculously bad that song was and i got hate mail from a few religeous freaks wishing me death, lol
shareWell,
its not really religious.
Its a christmas song.
What Christmas was about.
I was moved by the song, and I'm not even christian.
You gotta listen to the lyrics man.
I agree with you, Jusazn. I am moved by the song, and the message as well. But some people are bothered by anything that evokes strong emotion, and that drives them to spout their own bitterness.
Other individuals, perhaps, just don't like the song for one reason or another. But pretending the song is enough to drive someone to suicide? Give me a frigging break!
What Christmas was about.
Christmas is coming! Buy! BUY! BUY SHOES - If you can't afford 'em, blag the money off some gullible twit in the store!
'Cause that's what Christmas is all about, man. Greed, gullibility, cheap sentiment and BUYING STUFF.
"The hour is come but not the man"

That is the complete opposite of CHEAP SENTIMENT.
No, it's the bloody dictionary definition.
The church may shout but Darwin roars

Yeah, Jesus Freaks can be eerie.
"Jingle bells, go to Hell, if you do not pray!"
- Choir of the Undead
Well what's so damn wrong with the song? I mean can't anything be warm or sentimental or touching now days. Does everything have to have some stupid modern newage 21st century smartass comment to it?
Question your prejudices.
Hopefully the OP will hear it again!!!
Question your prejudices.
I agree. Plus, the song is religiously biased.
"You can't kill the boogeyman!"
- Tommy Doyle
So I don't know how many of you have heard/seen this but Patton Oswalt does a great bit on this song...

**Not Safe For Work!**
enjoy!
Well it was written and recorded by a Christian pop group after all, what do you expect?
shareSo?
~May peace rain down from Heaven~

It's dismaying how many people get weepy over this song. If they took a step back, recognized that the story being told was fictional, and REALLY listened to the lyrics, they might notice what a horrible slab of phony, manipulative dreck it is.
sharePeople going out of their way to make others' lives a little better is dreck. Okay...

Yeah, some 11-year-old in Bangladesh was paid 12 cents for making those shoes. Go ahead and spoil his Ramadan......
"The hour is come but not the man"
People DO get emotional over ficticious stories, OMG is it lame to be emotional nowdays, what the F*&^ is wrong with you people?
Question your prejudices.
It’s not that the song is emotional (which it certainly is), it’s that after 2000+ years Jesus is still intimidating people. Pray for those who don’t know Him.
shareHurry up and do it. Nobody likes you anyway and you are a loser.
shareI guess the OP must have heard the song again and made good on his threat. He hasn't posted anything since December 2009.
shareI enjoyed the movie apart from that lame, appalling song. Whose idea was that? They should never work in entertainment ever again. It was so bad I couldn't stop laughing for a long time.

Duty Now For The Future
I had never even heard about The Christmas Shoes until I was in the mall when I went to take a break at Borders and they had the copy of the book on display and it seemed to be a popular bestseller. Then when my mom and I were listening to the Delilah radio show one of the Christmas songs she played was The Christmas Shoes and when I first heard it I couldn't believe that there was a song based on that book and the lyrics I thought were odd. And then Mom and I discovered the movie and I couldn't believe how The Christmas Shoes became a popular song and it seems to be as popular as Bob Carlisle's hit song Butterfly Kisses and has a cover done by teen country group Three Of Hearts. But at least the song has made Newsong a household name in Christian music today
