Fozzie's role here

I've always felt the three main Muppets were in this order: Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear. In Muppets From Space, they diminished Fozzie's role to concentrate more on Gonzo. I understand that considering Gonzo's believable as an alien, but there was no reason to diminish Fozzie's role as a result of it. The most interesting Muppets were backdoor people in the last movie. I don't care about Gonzo's line, "Kermit, you're the best friend an alien ever had." or whatever it was. Gonzo is not Kermit's best friend, Fozzie is. I'm glad to say that here, not only was Fozzie the same inept comedian bear we know and love, but he was given an important role again. That alone makes this movie OK with me.

And contrary to what the other person said, I think it's hilarious to see a Muppet "It's A Wonderful Life" with Kermit as Jimmy Stewart.

It's not saying that Gonzo is Kermit's best friend it is saying that Kermit is Gonzo's best friend. Plus you can have more than one best friend.
Also I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill. I don't think Fozzie is being diminished. In Muppets from space, Fozzie was not in it a lot because that isn't what the movie is about.

Not if it showed his start in the El Sleezo Cafe.

The original actors (those who have survived, most notably Frank Oz) are pursuing other interests, it says so right on the IMDb entry. As for the actors who have passed...their characters have been diminished considerably (Rowlf, in particular). I think that's why the Muppet attititude is changing as well; the people in charge, the writers, the talent, they're all second-generation.
