or were these things just embellished to make the story more inspiring ??

Tobey Maguire was actually and inch and a half taller than Red Pollard.
He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?
yes seabiscuit was small, but war admiral was actually about the same size
shareWow. Some history:
1) Red pollard averaged 119 lbs throughout his career. Very large for a jockey of that era.
2) Seabiscuit was a full 2 hands shorter that the Admiral.
The real inaccuracy of this film (beside the fact that Charles had an older son who was a successful stable owner) is the fact that War Admiral scratched in whaever race in which he was matched up against the Biscuit. On a dry track, War admiral scratched; on a wet track, SEABISCUIT SCRATCHED. War Admiral was huge and powerful, and could plow through the mud, while Seabiscuit needed a dry track to take advantage of his overall quickness. Hate to say it, but the Biscuit depended on more favorable track conditions to contend. Seabiscuit was a great dry track horse, otherwise....
True about scratching on the sloppy tracks. You are dead wrong about the size though. Look it up, they were practically the same size at around 15.2 hands. War Admiral might have been 15.3.
share<<2) Seabiscuit was a full 2 hands shorter that the Admiral.>>
I am sorry, but this is totally wrong. As Rick03 said, Seabiscuit and War Admiral were about the same height and Seabiscuit had a thicker build. The measurements are listed in the American Race Horses volumes for 1937 and 1938.
One of War Admiral's oddities he he looked nothing like his sire, Man o' War. Instead, he was physically closer to his mother, Brushup, who was tiny at around 14 hands 3 inches.
No embellishment necessary.
The horse really was TEENY and the jockey really was HUGE.
Relatively speaking.
