Expressive eyes... Yeah right.
I was never crazy about this idea. I think I figured it would turn out pretty much like it did. But seeing how much money (a lot more than any other film in either franchise) and energy and anticipation this thing had going for it, it's a letdown. What was so wrong with taking itself a little more seriously? The early films in each franchise did. Or even finding actors that weren't embarrassing to watch? I love the horror genre, and I get what they were going for here: A fun popcorn horror movie for teenagers. In that sense, they did ok. But What it. should have been, however, was something made for the fans that love these movies. The choice to use someone other than Kane Hodder as jason proves they had no real interest in the fanbase. Hodder brings so much more to the role. He is sorely missed in this movie. Kirzinger is boring as Jason. Expressive eyes my ass. Robert Englund is of course always great but the writing for Freddy sure could have been a lot better. How about going for some genuine scares? Overall, Freddy vs Jason could have been worse. But it's not very good either.
