I liked this movie but the real problem with it and with the previous New Line Jason films is that they technically can't reference the original movies. It's why in Freddy Vs. Jason Stubbs just says, "Then they made the mistake of killing his mother." Basically, Alice and all the other characters from the original movie can't legally be named. Parts 2-8 never happened. New Line can only use Jason and his mother. Nothing else. It's why they can't make a sequel to the original movies like the fans want.
Then again, Jason Goes to Hell doesn't feel connected with the original movies anyway. Especially with him having a sister, a niece, and a great niece. Hardcore fans of it will defend that by saying Adam Marcus intended her to be the offspring of Jason's father and a woman he married after Pamela's death. Except she's way too old for that to be the case. The orginal took place in 1980 so that would mean Jason's sister would not have been born til the early to mid 80s. She shouldn't be old enough to have a grown up daughter. What a poorly written, poorly thought out film!
