Hmmmm...
I don't want to inflame anyone by bringing this up, but has anyone noticed the strange similarities between this movie and Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy? Passionate, precocious little blonde girl, courageous, strong little dark-haired boy meet in another world and fall in love? A little dark-haired boy who has happened to lost his father and has a relative with some sort of mental illness in the family. Along with all the themes of coming of age and fear and mortality, and the title (the DUST Factory?)... maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but it caught my eye at the movie store for just those reasons.
Good movie, though...
