In the middle of the movie Jerry visits the Comedy and Magic Club in the L.A. area in Hermosa Beach. The night that he shows up to perform a ton of great comedians are there! Jerry himeself, Garry Shandling, Chris Rock and a lot of other legends and familiar faces. Usually that amount of famous comedians do not perform in one night a comedy clubs. Clubs usually have comedians of those status only a couple times a year come around. Where they having a benifit or something? Jerry even thought and said it was the greatest night in stand up comedy he had seen in ten years.
First of all, Good observation. Most clubs don't pack that much talent in a year, let alone one night. As a stand-up comic myself, I have a little insider info on this one.
The Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach California has a month each year where they celebrate their Anniversary (August, I believe). During this month instead of a regular show they do a showcase of 15 comics for $15. During that time many of their famous Alumni turn up repeatedly to perform and see the other comedian friends they came up with.
Many of the shows during this month long celebration are star-studded. Although I would guess that the particular show in the movie was also well attended because word was out that Seinfeld and his movie crew would be out there, and fellow comedians like camera time as much as stage time.
Thanks mazan 15. I thought nobody out there would be able to answer this post. I put it out ages ago. Your a stand up yourself, that's sick! I am looking into becoming a stand up even at my young age of 15. However, I also am looking into either acting or film. Just wondering, what clubs do you performed in? Don't worry about telling where they are an stuff like that. I have almost memorized most in this country. Yeah, I'm really into stand up! Also, do you think it's a hard life being a comedian? Would you recommend it as a way to make a living and get the satisfaction of performing on stage to an audience and getting laughs?
