anyone else upset with relgious nonsense?

This movie was soo good and it could have been so much better. Remember when creasy tries to kill himself and the bullet doesnt work. but then he gives it to mr ramos and the bullet works for him....like wow....I nearly shut the movie off right there

reply

First time watching movies huh? :D if only you had a brighter knowledge then you would've seen crazier stuff happening in movies... It's not a documentary film.

yippie kay yay!

I have no idea what your talking bout. Ive seen over 1000 movies so what are you referring to? Im saying they added something in this movie that they did not need to add...religon

reply

They're in Mexico; Catholicism is still big there. Latin America hosts the largest Catholic population in the world. It was used as Marc Anthony's character as a justification for his actions, and also to display his hypocrisy; he prayed and lit candles but he performed the ultimate betrayal to his family.

It is set in Mexico which has a very religious population.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

reply

"relgious nonsense?", "what your talking bout", "Im saying" and "did not need to add...religon".

You are barely literate, you cannot spell the word and you seek to discuss the role of religion in movies? Go back to school and pay more attention this time.

reply

Surprisingly, no; I'm not religious, but that aspect was done quite believably -- both by Creasey and Sam. They were two people who were past their breaking points and needing some power other than their own. Seemed logical.

reply

ok....so a bullet that does not fire for creasy but fires for ramos thats logical? how so? Its the exact opposite its saying god saved creasy it was retarded

reply

Get over it.

reply

Oh, no; the bullet situation was just a coincidence. I had no idea you meant it was really supposed to be a miracle. I'm talking about their religious feelings -- that seemed logical; that they were both ready to subscribe or appeal to a higher power.

reply

I didn't think the religious parts were too heavy-handed, and Creasy himself told the nun that he lost his faith along the way. And Lisa's a$$ was divine, as well. Just the right amount of religion.

Well sir, you can blame me, I mean, I'm the one that shot him.

reply

Misfires happen for more reasons than faulty ammunition.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

reply

Nope, I like the "religious nonsense" as long as I'm not being preached to. Denzel is a religious man and often works these themes into his movies (or picks scripts with them already written in), so if you are that intolerant of a hint of faith in movies, watch the overwhelming majority of other Hollywood films which ignore it.

The bullet didn't go off for Creasy, he took it as a miracle which added purpose to his miserable life.

^^ THIS..

And in reply to the OP... Like it or not there are Christians in this world, I happen to be one.. Every other walk of life is represented in film and/or demanding to be so why should Christians NOT be represented in film & television?

They put everything else and I mean EVERYTHING else on the screen- a little bit of Christianity isn't going to hurt anyone..

Nobody will burst into flames by watching it.. I promise..

Well said.

The point doesn't have to be religious. The point of the bullet is that "it never lies". When it does work for Creasy it means he wasn't meant to die yet. When it does work for Ramos it means he deserved death. It's called symbolism.

reply

I am fed up with atheist aholes that have to schiat on everything they deem even faintly resembling religioun. They are some of the most insufferable douches I have ever come across. Most Christians I know are friendly and neighborly. Also have to envy their sense of community. That I like them on a personal level lets me set aside the fact we don't believe the same things. When I imagine that jaded atheists that spout their own version of religion everywhere, I think of some dude living alone in a basement with no friends that is angry at the world.

reply

Pretty much. I'm a Christian (all though not some bible thumper and my views are light) I don't spit on other religions, or atheists but some atheists just look for any and all opurtunities to push their agenda, they almost become hypocritical given that some other religions try and push their agenda. Pot calling the kettle black? I think so! As for relaxed atheists: I respect you and your views 100%, I question everything and if your raised in a certain environment and you put it aside for your own beliefs based on research and individual knowledge then I commend you!

As for the OP, sounds like some oppositional defiant rebel without a cause. Get over it, its a movie not a government mandatory force feeding. If you live in the USA shame on you as well as this country was founded partly on bringing in people who were subjected to religious intolerance and hate because of their views yet so many people spit on others for their beliefs.

The ammo thing isn't as unrealistic as it looks. I shoot all the time, and it happens. Unless your powder is bad or the primer is bad then this is caused by a light strike. This is the most common in my experience. Hitting it a second time will usually cause it to fire.

I've been 16 years in the army, and go to the range quite a bit. The only time I've had a FTF incident is because of a double feed caused by impurities in the chamber. It shouldn't happen that often, specially if you keep good maintenance of your weapon.

Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?

I have been a professional in the firearms industry for many years and this an accurate statement.
