Hey who says girls can't like creepy things?
lol I'm just teasing you filmmagnet, I get what you're saying but I'm a woman and I love horror movies and things that are scary and creepy so I think both boys and girls could love Coraline equally.
Not every little girl is into rainbows and unicorns.
To be honest what Coraline reminds me of the most...and is the main reason I love it, is that it harkens back to the classic Grimms Fairy Tales...think Snow White or Hansel and Gretel... the ORIGINAL tales before they got all sweetened up and softened.
The classics could be very dark and creepy.
And for me that's what Coraline represents, the days when wicked witches were truly wicked and not just misunderstood, and when their was real danger for the hero/heroine.
Because as any child knows you can't reason with the monster under your bed.
