Why replace Desert Jack with Tyler?

Seeing as they recasted Jodi and Nancy, what exactly was the reason for replacing Jack with Tyler instead of also recasting him? Anyone know?

i'm guessing adding tyler would help certain plots during the series that jack couldnt. tyler's character was a race car driver, and they seem to use his talents a lot. i perfer the new character more then jack. jack was a bit annoying and dull.

Actually, I thought the change was in homage to the movies. First, Val and the scientist left (can't remember her name), followed by Earl and the 'new' Val (can't remember his name, either), then Desert Jack left and was replaced, by Tyler. I figured that with every incarnation of Tremors, a main character from the previous one would leave Perfection, only to be replaced by someone new. So far, this holds true, with Burt Gummer being the only mainstay. Ofcourse, Burt is to Tremors as Ripley is to Aliens; without them it's not the same.

Another answer is that maybe they preferred to bring in new characters and write off old ones instead of recasting. But in the case of Jodi and Nancy, they wanted to keep those characters around as they dated back to the first movie. Well not Jodi, but she was Walter's daughter and he goes back to the first movie. Short of having Jodi move out and another Chang daughter move in, they couldn't do much other than recast. Desert Jack was not really a classic character though, he was a new addition with Tremors 3 and didn't have much history.

i think they wanted a person new to perfection to give a reason to explain what graboids are, why is everyone able to live in perfection, why they can't kill el blanco, ect. you know fill in the blanks for people that haven't watched the entire tremors movie series.

Right, Tyler is the new guy in Perfection so in a sense the audience is meant to associate themselves with his perspective.
