John and Joan Cusack
I just found out that both John and Joan Cusack were supposed to be in this film but dropped out because their father became ill. Do you think this would have been a better movie or even worst if they were in it?

shareI could totally see that. Their inclusion might have improved this movie.
shareThey were smart to bail on it!
shareI think it would of been a better movie if they could of stuck with either women with computer chips but human bodies, or Robot's with human brains, or just Robots. Both John and Joan are good actors but it still wouldn't help the plot.
A man can change his stars
Would be much better, they are both phenomenal!
shareEither plot - robots with brains, or the other, would have been fine if only Frank Oz knew how he wanted to do this - you can't have excerpts of two conflicting ideas running neck and neck and expect the audience to get into it. It's two films at once, and that does not work. I, for one, would love to see the preview cut on DVD - maybe it was a lot better, at least more coherent. I once downloaded a file of the preview version. Someone had entered the theater with a camcorder and filmed it, then uploaded it. It played a lot smoother, made more sense, and was much funnier.
THEN - if only Oz could have changed some of those tired SNL-type jokes.
I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.

Oh YES, those jokes were awful and stale even by the time the movie opened. So bad. The original Stepford Wives was 100 times funnier and scarier.
