Does nobody work in stepford?
It doesnt appear that any of the residents actually have jobs or work at all, so how do they afford to live there? Their not old, most of the couples dont look anywhere close to retirement age- even the men!
Also, if outsiders were working in stepford, surely they would cotton on to the fact that the women arent quite normal, i mean the whole reason the town manages to survive (apart from glen close's claim that nobody would notice because it was in conneticut) is because its a gated community. Nobody can get in or out without permission.
So if this is the case, who works at the shops? Like the supermarket they all shop at. There arent any NORMAL women there so its clearly INSIDE stepford.
somebody must work there, somebody must keep the place clean and tidy. The women certainly dont appear to do anything apart from keep house. And who knows what the men are supposed to get up to during the day.
Seems a little odd that they spend all day playing games and smoking, wouldnt that get a bit boring?
The only person who is shown to do anything responsible is the realtor played by glenn close (cant remember the characters name) and we know she is the only real woman in the town!
Bobbie works for a while on her book, but then gets changed into a stepford wife, which i assume means she doesnt write anymore!
