Glenn is so funny and heartbreaking at the same time

The last scene had been totaly stolen by Glenn's performance...Nicole just like a wood standing there with others..that made me wondering who's exactly the leading actress?Abviously Glenn has nailed Nicole but I'm glad she did.

Next to FATAL ATTRACTION, I don't think I ever enjoyed Glenn Close onscreen as much as I enjoyed her in this film...her performance is one of the few things in this film that really works.

reply

I agree, not a great film but Glenn Close is fantastic, its worth watching the film for a second time just to see her!

reply

I agree, she's awesome in this. I love when she's like "DOES ANYONE HAVE A SCREWDRIVER???"

Say goodbye to all of this, and hello to oblivion.

I agree. Glenn Close is always spectacular in these type of over the top roles (Cruella De Vil?) - She's an amazing actress.

Bette Midler - was fun too with her own brand of comedy. She's such a unique performer.

Nicole Kidman was definately the weakest link. I think they picked her because she looks like a plastic Barbie doll.

For the ones that love the Glenn Close's performances, please see her in "The Cookie's Fortune" from Robert Altman. It is far far far her best performance.
Regarding Nicole Kidman. Please, she is not a Barbie doll at all. May it be this is as her character seems to be. Who has doubts about Nicole's performances please remember her acting in "The Hours" and maybe the not so unknown "Dogville". Incredible.

I agree Glenn Close was magnificant and the only person to really come out of this messy film with her dignity intact. I don't think it was much of a stretch for her though...she's pretty much effortless when playing unhinged women. She owns that role.

reply

Yes, she was excellent in this film. I didn't much like Broderick's and Kidman's performances.. Also: the chemistry between them was a bit off.

Close, Midler en Bart were the saving grace of this film in my opinion..

Dear Warden. You were right. Salvation lies within.

Glenn has nailed Nicole

I don't see what the sex lives of Glenn and Nicole have to do with this conversation.

reply

Yeah Glenn Close's performance was probably the only good thing about this film.

reply

Glenn was amazing. But Bette Midler stole the show for me aswell.

And yeah, I'll admit, I get tears in my eyes when Claire (Close) crawls over to Mike and dies next to him. She's completely insane but...awwww.

In this movie:

Nicole was great.
Bette was better.
Glenn was the best.

Glenn Close was terrific in this film! She really did give it her all. That last scene is hilarious, how she's all nice and sweet and then becomes a maniac shouting "DOES ANYONE HAVE A SCREWDIVER???". She sure is funny!

reply

Agreed. Glenn was absolutely fantastic.

She is a great actress who it as her best in these kind of roles.

I also absolutely loved Bette's performance. She can be so hilarious!
