anyone know what they do, and any order you have to punch them in?

I have no idea. I just pushed them... I actually thought they opened the force field later on. Or that they made the acid water come out... or something.

I only figured that out the fourth time through... it makes those sections doable... :D

I normally keep the traps activated, so that when zombies approach me, I let the traps do my dirty work for me.

No, no they are talking about the panels that are in every room. Not the runes. The panels disable the traps for a limited time and the warded runes remove the wards around the mantarok rune. The panels don't need to be there, it just makes the area easier.
