an obvious reference they forgot to mention!!

I just recently read the short story, "Call Of Cthulhu" by H.P Lovecraft, and right away I noticed the similarities between the story and Eternal Darkness. The description of where the monster may be lurking is a perfect description of the two underworld cites you find. And, when I played it through again, I noticed that the investigator's name was Lagrasse, the same name of the detective in Cthulhu who found the natives in New Orleans worshiping Cthulhu. Also, there is the whole dead man and investigating what the dead man was investigating aspect. Also, the main character being related to the dead. Eternal Darkness has Alex, while Cthulhu's narrator is investigating his uncles’ research. I don't know. I think it's pretty obvious. What do you all think?

The whole game is a homage to Lovecraft's works; The creators never tried to hide that. They just couldn't use actual names from Lovecraft's stories, so they change names. The Necronomicon is called the Tome of Eternal Darkness for example.

The Poe quote kind of gives it away. Lovecraft was greatly influenced by Poe, and mentions him in several stories.

Also, I thought they did mention Lovecraft at one point. Plus it takes place in an old mansion in Rhode Island like dozens of stories written by Lovecraft and his successors.
