You people labeling this movie brilliant--you have got to be kidding me. I think Ben Stiller and Jack Black "can be" comic geniuses. I own THE BEN STILLER SHOW DVD, he was way ahead of his time--Oliverstoneland, I love it--and I saw Jack Black on "Tenacious D" on HBO before most knew who he was, and thought he was hilarious.

But ENVY is an absolute bomb! It's just not funny. I was only laughing at how bad it was, and how all the jokes were bombing. Everything is just off key, I cannot believe Levinson directed this. The storyline went nowhere. They had such an opportunity for comedy, and it just went nowhere. This is worse than DEATH TO SMOOCHY.

I like Walken as much as the next film fanatic, but his character was just pretty dumb, and not funny at all. Wasn't he a long-haired freak in some other movie recently?

#3 on worst of 2004 under RESIDENT EVIL and BLADE: TRINITY.

I don't understand your point. You're trying to tell me DEATH TO SMOOCHY was funny? It was a dark comedy that didn't work, like ENVY.

Off the top of my head, some comedies that are brilliant:

DR. STRANGELOVE...
FIGHT CLUB
BRAZIL
MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL
MP AND THE MEANING OF LIFE
ROYAL TENENBAUMS
LIFE AQUATIC

too tired, can't think of anymore right now, but you get the picture, you see my tastes. Both SMOOCHY and ENVY, sucked unfortuntely, despite the huge talent of the casts.
