Had potential, but went totally flat (with some analysis)

Just saw it on dvd....you'd think ben stiller and jack black in a movie would be enough. Just terrible, totally flat, had potential....but it was like it was running on a flat tire the whole movie.

-Black selling vapoorize on tv was funny, but they didn't go anywhere with it. Why didn't they focus more on his selling efforts? Him selling to major chains.

Borrowing a group of dogs and having them go outside the door of a big Walmart exec to show how well the product worked. Or Black staking out a dog park. Could have gone in alot of directions. Jack Black selling anything would be funny, I dont know why they minimized this.

-Walkens "J Man" was way over acted IMO. The cabin bit with funny. Too in your face.."I'm the J man". His character needed more background. His wardrobe didnt fit the character either.

-Nicks wife was miscast as the ditzy blonde, running as a congresswoman/state senator. No believability here. She was too normal and suburban to be ditzy.

-Trip to europe. Had tons of potential! Black and Stiller in europe selling vapoorize...the hot tub scene was kind of funny. They could have done alot...but just flat.

-There was no real passion for the product. It turned into a running joke..."how does it disappear." Passion or believability went out the window.

I almost turned it off when they reached the carousel part. Then the dead horse?

The most uneven comedy I've seen in a long time.

It is just ok.

It's an absurdist, dark comedy, with elements of a "hell in a handbasket" film. Critiquing it on grounds of believability screams, "I don't get the genre".
