At another point in the film doesn't Katsumoto refer to the 'cherry blossom'? It's what it looks like to me.

Since they were viewing the Cherry Blossoms, I would assume it was a Cherry Tree.
But that would just be a best guess scenario on my part.

I do agree. I don't know what CGSailor said because he's on my ignore list but I'd bet it was either sarcastic or arrogant. Probably both.

In Fact It's a Cherry Tree and It called "Sakura" in Japanese.
