Tom Cruise's preformance oscar worthy!

To me Tom Cruise gave his best preformance ever in this movie.true he has given several good ones in his time, but The Last Samurai preformance he gave was his best.He is so human and so emotional in the role.Defintly oscar worthy.Anyone else agree?

I agree as well. He was brilliant and everything about the film was. It's as good as Mel's Braveheart for sure...

Tom was amazing !!

I agree.

this movie was good, and TC did a great job...but my opinion is that his best acting was "born on the fourth of july".

That's the best for me too.

The Oscars are A SHAM

I'm never going to understand all the hate he gets. He's an artist, he always deliver on his acting. Sure, I understand if some people disagree with his personal beliefs or his persona but that shouldn't have any impact on his craft! I don't agree with the way Jimi Hendrix lived his life but that doesn't stop me from recognizing his music.

You're going to die screaming and I'm going to watch. Am I telling the truth?

I especially liked the part where he apologizes to Hirotoro's widow. You really feel the awkwardness but also the sincerity of his feeling, and that he is becoming one of them. He did a really great job in that scene.

I was very impressed with Tom Cruises performance. Superb. It is on tv tonight and i look forward to watching it again for the (lost count) time. Have to admit the first time I saw it I was sceptical but it is an excellent film and Tom yes I agree, " so human so emotional in the role".

I thought Cruise was good, but his presence wasn't as compelling as Watanabe's.

TC was great, as well as the rest of the movie, but I have to say that Watanabe's performance was, in my mind, the most subtle/understated, and aesthetically gorgeous aspect of this film. He also provided the film with it 'moral center' (if you'll allow me the use of such an abstract notion). KW was really scrumptious to watch while he was on-screen.

his performance in every movie he makes is exceptional, its the scientology thing that gives him bad press,,, btw this isnt his best performance check out some of his older movies, they are all as mesmerizing
