Blu-ray
I've been hoping this film's Blu-ray would get a remaster.
The disc we've got isn't too bad, but the video transfer is from the very early days of Blu-ray (ported over from the HD-DVD releas, I believe) and its age really shows. It could look a lot better, without the over-compression, edge enhancement and constricted colour palette.
And then, of course, there's the audio. Zimmer's score is lush, and could really soar with the extra presence a lossless audio track would provide. WB does some great releases in terms of video, but really lags behind on recognising what audio can contribute to a film.
Maybe this film hasn't sold enough copies for WB to be willing to invest in a better Blu-ray release, but we can always hope.
You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
