What is your take on Nobutada?

From the moment they captured Algren he seems totally trusting of him, having him around Taka and the children, he was friendly, wanted to help Algren, he was inviting and engaging. He knows nothing about him, it is interesting that he seems to have no suspicion that he could be violent, dangerous or would hurt anyone. He laughs at/with him constantly, invites him to eat, encourages him to practice with the kids, seems eager to help him and get to know him and to teach him Japanese.

What is your take on this? Even if he is naturally friendly a warrior would have a natural suspicion of an enemy, at least enough to keep tabs on him to make sure he isn't a threat. Algren was close enough to Taka and the children that if he decided to hurt them that they couldn't stop him before he did.

He seemed to have total trust and think the best of Algren right from the get go.

He did seem like a very likeable, friendly person.

He was one of my favorite characters in the movie. He was everything you said he was and more. He was a completely obedient son to his father. I think he was also probably trying to be there for Taka’s boys since their father had just died. He gave his life to save everyone and deadly with a bow and arrow as well.

I think this is the answer. Some people are just likable and friendly. I've met people like that. They are often a very good judge of character.

Likeable but a bit of an idiot.

His father, a daimyo high enough to meet with the Emperor and he let freaking conscripts cut his chonmage off.
