Another white guy saves the day movie by Edward Zwich

What is with this guy and his white savior fetish. For him to make this ridiculous film and then go on to make Blood Diamond is too much of a coincidence to be ignored.

Nathan is not their savior, and for that matter he doesn't become their leader either like the white savior trope often prescribes. He helps them of course, but what ultimately sways the emperor and allows the Samurai's cause the degree of success that it gets is the valor and sacrifice of Katsumoto's men rather than any actions of Algren.

Racist much? What, the white man isn't beaten down enough in commercials where he's portrayed as a buffoon?

reply

Idiot. Reverse racism doesn't exist

It's an American movie, did you expect them to use an Arabian or something? Do they make many Japanese films with a white protagonist? Do you expect to go to a sushi bar and get a burrito?

Silly question you ask.

Japan's claim to fame isn't being the highly diversified cultural melting pot Americans pretend America is. Diversity is almost never reflected in America's entertainment industry. In America, film and music are industries geared towards whites and, to a lesser extent, blacks. Nearly all other races are swept under the rug, or worse, vilified in film. America's foreign language education is also terrible. The majority of the worlds population is bi-lingual, but America doesn’t like to incorporate foreign languages. This is another barrier which only serves to further separate people of different cultures. America's entertainment industry needs to adapt and they have to do it soon.
