Movie ending

I see many who complain about the ending. (especially the more wrong than right doofuss ebert. I'm from Chicago so I can say that. (Siskel crushed him)) I'm amazed at how wrong they are. You have the awesome battle climax, followed by a smaller but emotional throne room climax, followed finally by the denouement back at the village that has a climactic feeling to it as well. All together, these elements do, in my opinion, make the ending of this film - PUHFECT!!

Agreed. One of the main plot strands involved Cruise's Algren with a healthy dose of PTSD most of the way through to the final third or so of the movie. I tend to like the stories with the happier endings, and TLS didn't disappoint. Over all one of Cruise's better movies do to the quality of the story, and that it was allowed to develop both elements of tension and elements of character. Add in a stellar cast to help dilute the "Cruise" effect - too much Cruise getting to do all the cool stuff - and TLS turned into a good movie.

The "Cruise" effect ... lol ... I like what you said .... cheers.

Most of the people I know who dislike the movie do so because it took the almost complete annihilation of the Samurai before the Emperor actually decided that perhaps he hitched his wagon to the wrong horse after all. He was just as guilty as Omura yet he makes the latter the scapegoat in disgrace. Still love the movie though.

We have to show the world that not all of us are like him: Henning von Tresckow.

The emperor is a little bitch...that wimp caused the death of an entire battalion of samurai because he was too weak to show some balls. He finally saw the light but was way too late . Least cruise got a nice piece of ass outta the deal
