Was she ever a nurse? We're never shown Alex working in the hospital. First, I thought she was lying about it to Matt just to convince him to let her bandage his hand. But then, she was telling Lisa about shifts in the hospital. The affairs with surgeons were a lie (or metaphor) of course, but the whole nursing job - was it true? If not, why would she lie to Lisa about it?

She was "lying to Diane Kruger" of course about having sex with the doctors, but she couldn't have been lying about the "nurse" part. Lisa had been her friend for the past two years. She would have had no reason to lie about being a nurse when they first met. It seems like she was a nurse with an aspiring ambition to be an actress.
What's odd is that Alex describes her as "an actress". And although there's minimal dialog between Alex and Lisa, there is no mention there of her being an actress.
