00's fashion in the 70's


This was supposed to take place in the 70's like the original, but they (or at least most of them) looked so 00's when it was made. I mean, no way guys had five o'clock shadows in the 70's.

I doubt it. I come from a pretty blue-collar family myself, granted not Texan, but no one in my family would ever be seen with one. It was considered socially unacceptable to not have shaved, and something that could get you kicked out of school or a warning from your boss (and not only in white-collar jobs). Men may have had a mustache or a full beard, but a five o'clock shadow was just totally unkempt. I'm aware of that blue-collar workers rarely shave every day now, but it was a different time then. It wasn't until Don Johnson in Miami Vice that five o'clock shadows became more acceptable and somewhat trendy AFAIK.

Case in point (although they're not from the 70's, it still applied then IMO):
