How old was Jake?

So me and my friend watched this last night and we kept noticing how Tess was saying that Jake was too old for Anna. I had always assumed he was just a senior so about 18. However, I finally realized that he is not even a student at the school but actually works there. Now he could still be 18 but that honestly makes everything about their relationship seem so different to me. Plus, he's able to afford a motorcycle working his 2 jobs? Anna is only supposed to be 15 in this movie and it creeps me out a little that Jake was so into her. I mean he's probably only meant to be 18 but I think realistically he would be older than that if he was working in the school and was able to afford a motorcycle. Plus it was mad creepy how he was pursuing Tess and even crashing her rehearsal dinner to see her (um, you've only known her 1 day!). Idk, his character just didn't work for me. He was too old for Anna (they should have just made him a senior, not a guy who works in the school) and he sort of flip flopped between liking Anna and liking Tess (albeit it was Anna in Tess' body, but he did not know this so he was actively pursuing who he thought was Tess).

You know, when I saw it for the first time 8 years ago, I thought he was just a senior too... but after re-watching it, I also questioned how old he was. He could be 18, and his bike could have just been a gift from his parents... but the fact that he's not even IN highschool and she's only 15 puts a completely different spin on the whole thing.
I think Tess was right in saying he was too old for her. I mean, for the sake of the movie, I'm glad they got together in the end... but it's a little jarring.

I have a friend who works at a high school and he's only 19, I think he was 18 maybe when he started working there not sure. He works in the kitchen though, not that that makes a difference I think, I don't remember where Jake works at. I'm just rewatching it right now on ABC Family, but I figured I'd put out that little tidbit of info.

I'm pretty sure he DID go to the school, I just assumed he was like an aid or something...I don't really think a Disney movie would pair a 15 year old with someone out of high school...

i have a friend who worked for our school as a sound technician while a senior, and continued after graduation. he's still 18 until June.
i would imagine Jake was 18 or 19, if not a senior.

There's just a possibility that I will kiss a doorknob.

Well it is possible he's a senior who works. When i was a senior i had finished all classes i need to graduate except two so i was able to do a half day of school and get out early to go to work.

While Jake looks like he is 26 years old, I always put his characters age at about 18 or so. I figured he was a senior who "worked" as a detention aid or something like that.
Chad Michael Murray was around 21 or so when he did the film and looked way too old for a 16 year old LL.

I hate it when I go to a hotel and can't get a sig on my beeper.

Came here to ask the same thing. He's probably 18 or 19, and he does act immature so it makes sense. But if he's not in high school, I can't imagine he would want to or would be allowed to if he works at the school.

They should have just made Anna 16. It's only a year older than 15, I know, but it does make a little difference. I watched this movie when I was younger at the theater and again tonight on Netflix, and I just noticed on this viewing he says he worked at the school. I really just thought he was a senior as well.

Just to share my story on that, I used to have a crush on one of the seniors at my school named Peter (not that he even knew me) and I was happy that after he graduated he came to work part-time at the school as a teacher's aid so I could still see his beautiful face. So while Peter was not a student, he was still in and around the high school.

I thought he was at least a senior and 17/18 years old.
