Incorrectly regarded as goof: Character error, NOS

This may be incorrectly regarded as a goof:

Character error
Whenever one of the characters hits their NOS buttons, there's always a sudden look of surprise on their face as if they didn't expect their car to go faster...

Often a NOS (Nitrous Oxide System) may be a last resort, a "ace up the sleeve," if you will. This means it is not normally used unless you really need it to win. The characters are cocky, and easily convinced to bet a lot of money. They probably defeated lesser, amateur racers with ease. This would explain the surprise.

A Nitrous system is capable of having the jets that (known as 75 shot, or 100 shot IE +100 Horsepower). If the character had their NOS jets changed and upgraded, they may be surprised at the additional sudden power.

These systems can cause major damage and thousands of dollars of engine and drive train damage if installed and used incorrectly. They probably were installed and tested by a shop/tuner and now are being used by the "surprised" racer real world.

Although I feel the "surprised" look might be incorrectly regarded as goof, your explanation lacks some logic.

When you got that stuff installed you'll try it, not wait for a race with 3500 at risk to see what happens when you push that button.

I think the look on their faces isn't supposed to be surprised, but more like they are in awe of the raw power.

I've always found that crap, corny. Dom did it perfectly in FF1 when racing Brian in the first race. He said "Too soon, kid, hit the N2O, and simply proceeded to overtake Brian. In 2F2F, I absolutely hated when every single racer his hit N2O got that SUPER surprised look, as if they installed the system but never tested or used it before that race. Lame!

carter hiding seems not a lot of dirty money , his place of live , cars of owing ,( if he all rent also not cheap ) should far more higher than the few bags of cash ... if he not sell off his house and only consider to grab back few bags of cash and run away to somewhere , it sounds making this joke to every adults characters within the film ...

No way. You don't spend all the money having it installed and not use it. These guys race all the time against cars that rival theirs. They would spray every race every time. If you sandbag you risk losing. That's like saying they might not press the accelerator all the way down, or skip gears so as not to risk engine damage. They would go all out every time, every race.
