Carnivale HD downloads (I can't download from Germany)

On Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com and so on "Carnivale" is available as HD download.

Because there is still no Blu-ray announced I wanted to buy HD downloads of the entire show.
Unfortunately I can't buy those cuase my credit card has a billing address in Germany and they only allow for credit card payment from their respective own country.

Any ideas where or how I can buy Carnivale in HD?

Are the HD downloads only in 720p or are the episodes available in 1080p?

Have you tried a free trial of Amazon prime? Carnivale is featured as one of the freebies to watch if you sign up for Prime. (You get a 30 day trial).
