Roxanne: A Bad Influence?

Was Roxanne that much of a bad girl? I feel like towards the end of the series, Meg became much more rebellious and was most likely to become unstable as an adult.

reply

Roxanne didn't have family support. Meg did. I wonder of Roxanne would have ended up in California & a part of the Height Ashbury movement.

reply

Roxanne wasn't 'bad' She wasn't stealing or killing anybody. Being in a super strict family and having to go to a strict parochial school--I'd rebel too.

She's the female version of my dad who did not like the Church and it's rules/went to catholic school around the same time. Or that generation's version of me.

I recall her speaking in another language to her grandma, I know it was Eastern European. Was the family Polish Russian? I recall reading that the actress was part Egyptian. Roxanne was rebellious, but not a bad person.

reply

The last name is polish--ski Am assuming she also could have had russian ancestors since there was intermarriage between the two groups.

As for what she's speaking it might be polish it's probably not what you learn in school. street slang is different from what public schools attempt to teach.

I would have loved to learn one or both...but my ancestors 'forgot' it in order to assimilate. a little jealous of Roxanne!!

reply

I meant Polish or Russian, but thanks.

reply

Was pointing out that although her surname is specifically Polish her DNA could be both Polish and Russian since the two groups intermarried.

reply

I recall seeing her mom in one episode, but did they ever show her dad or grandma? Did she have siblings?
