The episode on season 1: The King

I was watching this episode for the 1st time last night and realized hey! This is exactly like this book I have based on the 87 turtles look, The book was called the magic crystal and was pretty much the episode exactly, just with the 97 turtles animation style. I don't remember the 97 turtles having that episode though. weird.

Do you know you went from 87 to 97?

"The King" was adapted from a Mirage TMNT comic book called "Donatello #1". If there's a turtles book from the original series then it was also adapted from "Donatello #1".

Yeah I meant 87 on the spots that said 97.

Yeah I did some research and found that Donatello comic.

I find that sort of strange they decided to do that. I have a few books from that series and they are books that actually came from the old 87 toons except that one. I always wondered why The Magic Crystal was never an actual episode back then........

I think it's kind of strange too. I don't know exactly why The Magic Crystal wasn't adapted for the original series, but if it was we might have got the great adaptation for this series. The old series, like the Super Friends, seemed to shy away from the comic roots.

I have one of those books called A Fish Story and it features Ray Fillet. Ray Fillet didn't appear in the original series either and he wasn't from the Mirage comics, he was from the archie comics. Ray Fillet's creator Ryan Bowen said they were originally going to use him in "A Rebel without a Fin" but since Fred Wolf ignored the comic origins and made him a villan Bowen protested and forced Wolf to create the character named Ray that was actually used in the episode. I guess Bowen was pissed about how Wolf used his other creation, Leatherhead.

interesting info! didn't know that!

Ive got that book too. Always wondered about the origin when i was a kid until i stumbled upon the comic around age 18.

Those series of Random House story books adapted mostly the Fred Wolf cartoon, Archie comics, the one Mirage comic and (maybe?) a few originals too.

Yeah I always wondered why the 87 cartoon never had the magic crystal story as an episode. Interesting sh*t though!

Thats what i love about TMNT, in time i always stumble upon new facts or things i never noticed before!
