I was wondering about Linda. Marcia Cross was great in the role. Was her character written off because Marcia got the role of Bree on Desperate Housewives? It just seemed kind of unfair to suddenly have her get diagnosed with AIDS and then break up with Andy.

I can't find anything in regards to what it was like for Marcia to be on the show, but did the writers ever hint at her making a possible reappearance had the show been renewed?

She wasn't diagnosed with AIDS, Linda was HIV positive which is something completely different. This was the plan all along, so that their relationship wouldn't be easy. She also never was meant as endgame for Andy.
I seem to remember that Marcia left because of Desperate Housewives, but I also wonder if Linda was meant to stay around.
