Amy's parents were horrible.

The dad is just a complete dickhead & egomaniac. Even though I completely disagreed with him at every turn, you could tell that he loved Amy. I don't know what's up with the mom, but she's just godawful. I think it might've been casting more than anything. Wasn't a bad person, but didn't really feel maternal at all. Amy was seriously depressed & her dad thought it would be something she could just shake because she was "strong". Amy's mom seemed like she was on Amy's side & then when Amy really started spiraling downhill, her mother was just awful. I know Amy wasn't the best, but she was clearly messed up & seriously depressed. It's like her mother completely forgot about that. I mean, she said she wanted to die & didn't even care & there was no comforting whatsoever. It was basically, Amy's tearing this family apart & she can stay away until she plays by the rules. Like, what the hell? I deal with depression, & you seriously have to be careful what you say to someone especially your own kid. I just couldn't stand her mother at all.

Wow, I respectfully disagree 100%. I loved Harold, and even though he could be quite conservative and set in his own, rigid (Traditional) ways, I knew where he was coming from and knew that he just wanted what was best for his children. He was always there for them, always knew how to prioritize them, and a very stable adult.
