a blend of MI1/2 that set the tone for the rest of the sequels
A blend of the espionage intrigue of MI1 (without the head scratching) with the non stop action of MI2 (without the crazy stylised 'Woo-ness')
Abrams movie set the tone that the sequels would follow, the classic MI team, Pegg, several 'impossible' action sequences , big stunt of the movie, mysterious villain, JJ 'mystery box' and the slightly off kilter/eerie 'Twilight Zone' vibe of the original TV series (although obviously more apparent in Twilight Zone fan JJs movie than the rest)
