Was Statham supposed to be playing an American here, because i honest to god, couldn't tell from his accent.

It sound like his normal accent apart from a few moments and i was convinced he was playing an Englishman (which wouldn't have affected the film at all) until someone on here posted about him dropping his American accent all the time.

Even in the Venice scenes Mos Def's character refers to him as the 'Guv'ner' a stereotypical 'American Friendly' reference to an Englishman that would have fitted the film.

When Mos Def was watching him chat up Betty and trying to guess his chat-up lines, Mos Def seemed to be trying to imitate Jason's English accent.

BTW, does anyone else think that Handsome Rob deserves a film of his own, along the lines of the original Alfie?

it was seth green (lyle) not mos def.. but you're right.

And it was becky, not betty. Statham had a cockney accent throughout.

I wouldn't mind a Handsome Rob movie, but not with him talking to camera - I'm not sure Statham could pull that off, to be honest. But certainly a film about him driving cars and charming women.

Spotted tights and stripy gloves, silly hats and lots of love...

Yeah - I'd be up for a Handsome Rob movie - that'd kick ass! I just discovered the film Transporter the other day - i was blown away - it was incredible! some really brilliant action scenes! - and he was hot.

I live in South London and I'd still choose Statham over 99.9% of the full-head-of-hair crowd here :D Dude, he's just got confidence and charm (because that sounds better than the shallow "have you seen his body?").
