So thugs work for cheap?

John Bridger, Charlie Croker, Napster, Rob, Left Ear and Steve stole 35 million dollars worth of gold plates. That's $5.83 million each among the six of them evenly.

Now Steve is not satisfied with $5.83 million. He hired a group of thugs that comes in two Jeeps, assault John Bridger and team at the bridge, and unload the gold to their Jeep. That's maybe about 8 to 10 men that Steve hired. And these men know that it is gold they are taking and they did not ask for an even share from Steve? Is it then worthwhile to split the gold among John Bridger's team of five or group of 8 to 10 thugs?

Charlie Croker and his team recovered 27 million dollars worth of gold plates from Steve. That is a difference of $8 million. Steve spends a certain amount of money on his property, security, cars, ect. Those thugs he hired to steal the gold from John Bridger hasn't been paid much? Would some thugs steal gold for another man for little money? These thugs are armed, they could have shot Steve at the bridge and kept the gold to themselves? Is there any thugs out there who work cheaply?

I don't know. Maybe Steve promised each one of them $1 million, but those thugs don't know how to turn $1 million worth of gold plates into money without raising suspicions with the authorities. So they may have arranged a deal with Steve, that he would pay each of them a relatively small amount (say $5,000) each month on their bank accounts, for the rest of their lives.

Wow, I'd never thought of it like that, you're right! What was stopping those men from just killing Steve (and hey, maybe even each other) and taking all of the gold for themselves? You make a very good point.
