So, I get its a movie and all, and maybe I am asking a stupid question but it has always bothered me. Why are the three minis up on the main street when the armored car goes past? I mean, they already had the location planned (explosives set) and were directing the truck there via Napster controlling the traffic etc. Why not just already be parked under the street in position for the explosion?
So the most obvious answer I know is, then they wouldn't get to drive minis on the walk of fame and dodge pedestrians and outrun the subway car, but I am really hoping there is some other reason I am not seeing because it is just so damn stupid.

maybe not that stupid since it is not that easy getting 3 cars into subway.
besides some may notice the cars if they were where al ready there.

I don't think it is stupid. When they go into the Subway, Lyle is cutting the power, so the metro stops. They can't go in while the metro is riding, because there is not enough space. If they had done it earlier it would be noticed. They also use the metro to block the entrance.
