When her father mentions sending her a gift she appears uncomfortable and he reassures her it's not stolen. She seems to be satisfied with this but how does she think he paid for it? Accepting a stolen gift is wrong but accepting a gift bought with stolen money is fine?
Hey! You're not old enough to drink! Now go and die for your country!!!
Yes, i get it. stolen or bought with stolen funds can be viewed as being the same. my point was that yes, she had a problem with receiving a stolen item but if daddy BOUGHT it for her, that might be okay. If a person wants to find an "out", it's not that hard.

OK like two splits of the same hair? Fine I get your point but she was honest or she wasn't. Either way, in my opinion, she was accepting ill gotten gain.

If I recall correctly, they were in front of a jewelry store when he called her. I assume the director wanted us to know that he did pay for it and for us to know that this had come up in conversation previously. We can also assume that it was bought with ill-gotten gain.
I'm sure Stella would know where the money came from but chose to make a distinction between stealing and buying (no matter where the funds came from).

Well that's my question answered really. Would you say that accepting a gift you knew was purchased with stolen money was a moral thing to do? It's certainly not a legal thing to do. In the eyes of the law it was stolen; it's a felony to knowingly profit from crime. Stella claimed to be a moral woman on one hand and a few seconds later she compromises that morality by being party to a crime just because daddy didn't steal it but bought it with stolen money. Crime is crime and morals are morals! Neither are a la carte!

sure. but if it is a purchased item, she could tell herself he got it with legitimate money. it's a stretch but it's also a gift from Daddy whom she misses so much.
I've got 2 daughters. they have forgiven me for effing up and can turn a blind eye if they find it necessary.

Believe me I take your point but I think we're just chasing each others tails at this stage. Personally I feel that if Stella can use emotion to justify one crime over another then she doesn't have the moral high ground she professes to have.
It's probably all moot anyway since I would assume she took her share of the Italian job.

I said nothing of the sort. Why are you putting words in my mouth? There's NO justification in taking a detour from morality. Maybe you need to check your own.

easy there, sparky. I wasn't speaking of you individually. "people" can find justifications of the actions in moral situations.
you seem to have some issues, "OH, Holier than thou."
take a pill.

My name is Mikey, it's in my title. Wow If I knew I was talking to a complete retard I wouldn't have bothered. I feel sorry for your two daughters! But I assume they're prostitutes. Anything is better than a life with an immoral father!
