So this is going to be released, or has been released...
"The director is no stranger to self-parody and irony, but this title is bizarre even for Boll standards. Boll has re-edited and re-scored his original hyperactive-zombie bomb, and shot some skillfully massaged-in new scenes, the end result aiming to be a sort of What's Up, Tiger Lily? for horror fans. An example of the sort of lunacy Boll is trading in here: Instead of smuggling guns aboard his boat, Captain Kirk is now moving crates of contraband David Hasselhoff CDs. No, we're not joking."
Boll: "We spent a long time finishing this version, and it's totally hilarious, a gift to people who loved my original movie and even for people who hated it, and I'm really excited to see the response. Lionsgate is handling it, and I'm told it will be getting a DVD release in late 2007. It is funny, really--trust me!"
I've never seen the original version but I want to see this one!!!
The original was funny because Boll tried to make it a super intense zombie flick, and he just plain failed. If he tries to make it funny, then it will just be trite and boring.
How do I know it will just be bad? Because sumggling David Hasselhoff CDs isn't funny. It's just contrived and stupid.
Boll needs to be stopped before he gets his hands on a game franchise that's worth making a movie about.
Why not go all out and add a Mike Nelson commentary to the disc as well? At any rate, as much as I hate Boll's films, I might actually check this sh_t out just to see.
By the way, about the new IMDb design.... Yeah, it still sucks.
I'm actually interested of seeing this one... the original is pretty funny on basis of how bad it is, but now Boll has edited it to be intentionally funny and apparently added in even more videogame footage. This might lead to either way: hilarious or just plain "wow, this leaves me dumbfounded." situation.

looks like i better netflix the original and torture myself with that before sitting through this. the idea alone intrigues me...i'm already sold that it's going to suck, but i really dig the idea of a director acknowledging how bad his movie is, and altering it to make it intentionally funny to juxtapose its horrific(and i don't mean scary in the good way) original version.
well first off i have to admit to liking the original version... yes of course it's awful but so what?? it's entertaining.however the new version altering it to make it intentionally funny does not work.it's not funny [well one or two moments are] but the pop ups are pathetic and annoying.i would sooner have seen a directors cut restoring the blood and gore that was cut out.
I haven't seen it yet, but my understanding is that Boll has reedited and reworked the original film to make it into an intentional comedy. How it could top the unintentional laughs of the original is beyond me.
