Eddie Murphey hasn't had a hit since the "Nutty Professor"
I rented "Daddy Day Care" last night and thought it to be a mediocre movie at best. I chuckled a few times, but it was much too "Disney"-ish for my liking. I suppose I'm also older than the target audience for this film.
This doesn't explain Eddie Murphey's degeneration from comic genius a few years ago to comic chump. After the well-deserved hype he received for "Nutty Professor", his choice of roles has been questionable to say the least.
I remember not even having the slightest inclination to see the 2nd "Nutty Professor", or "Holy Man", or "I Spy" or "Pluto Nash" nor anything he's done in the last several years. If "Daddy Day Care" is the best film role he's had since "Professor", then I don't think he's going to be a box office draw for much longer. He needs to start picking better scripts or else he risks fading into obscurity.
