I was really impressed with this film, and was just interested as to what scene shocked people the most.
My choice sounds odd, but I was most disturbed by the moment when Lil Ze forced that man to strip naked in the nightclub. It was so sadistic and cruel and utterly pointless as the poor guy had done nothing. To me that scene exemplified what an evil guy he was, as he took such huge pleasure in humilating and torturing a complete stranger in public.
Making a man strip naked is NOTHING compared to what he did to the children. When i was 7 I cried when a teacher told me i had done something wrong. But to have 7 year olds decide for themselves whether to get shot in the hand or leg, is extreme, and to get another kid to choose one to shoot and kill, that is very disturbing.
The other scene which comes close is when they catch the 8 year old messenger, and he reacts with a tear in his eye that he is a man as he has smoked, snorted and killed people. That is symbolic as it shows the root of such extreme violence. That children as young as that are already open, and in some ways forced into such a life.
The scene where lil ze shoots people in the hotel is a bit ott imo as is the last scene where some 11 year olds talk about killing everyone, so i dont nominate them.
Definitely the scene with the two children. Let me just say, those kids are some REALLY good actors. Can you imagine that kind of emotion being portrayed by children that young. Amazing. It absolutely put me in a state of shock the first time I watched the scene.
Actually, that seems rather fair to me. I mean, he is just enforcing the rule of law. It is not like he is messing around with people who didn't do anything. His law was clear, no unauthorised violent crimes under penalty of death. It seems very just and righteous to me.
Yeah, Li'l Z did a lot of things to get that feeling of power, like when he told Blacky to work for him instead of killing him or letting him leave after he took his apartment and drugs.
He must have enjoyed the fear or maybe he saw it as respect?
He'd have been better of being more ruthless, killing everyone who crosses him instead of letting them live to get revenge (the kids, blacky, carrot, knockout ned)
actually in my opinion the most disturbing scene was when the old lady and the other young lady was talking about if her husband goes down on her or she lets him do her up the ass and she tells her to use a warm banana while she gets anal obviously the conversation wasnt disturbing but to me what was is when she was doing this stuff and her husband caught her and beat her with a shovel that was messed up...
The part when Lil Z had the two little boys cornered and asked them choose which part of body they would rather he shoot. It was absolutely heartbreaking seeing that little boy cry trying to plead for his life.
