shareI love the fact that they actually shoot through walls.
shareYes. I loved this movie, and I remember Costner said he was planning to do more Westerns around the time of Open Range. But sadly the box office wasn't the best and his plans never materialized.
Here, he combined his love of the old Jimmy Stewart westerns but also infused it with modern sensibilities (hence why gunshots are terrifying, messier and far more realistic than we're used to seeing - even in the best Westerns). Here, guns jam, people trip, and even these gun-totin veterans are scrambling to reload fast enough to live. That's exactly how it would have been in the West.
An extremely underrated movie.
Great gun battle, and yes, they were sometimes scrambling to reload; however, Costner at one point fired fifteen times from one of his six-shot revolvers without reloading. I don't care, though. I accept it as a movie tradition.
shareAgreed!
I love when Costner pops the first outlaw and then all hell breaks loose!
