When is the DVD due out?

I adore this movie, it is amazing and wonderful and all the other synonims for excelence and greatness I can imagine, and I can't wait for the DVD. I'm a big fan of the BBC miniseries and this was even better than that. If you know when the DVD is due out, tell me please! I can't wait! Later.

Mike....I LOVE you enthusiasm for TSD!!! My friends and I feel the same way..I have seen it four times and just wish it had been around longer so I could see it again on the big screen. but the DVD will be wonderful to have and I understand we get some bonus goodies from Keith and hopefully, from Robert too....can hardly wait. You can pre-order on Amazon and they will ship as soon as it is in.

What can I say? It's a wonderful movie, one of the most involving portraits of mental instability ever put to celluloid. In addition to that, it combines two of my favorite genres, hardboiled detective noir and musicals. It is a fantastic film, and vastly underrated, Robert Downey Jr. gave one of the best performances of the year, second only to Ben Kingsly in House of Sand and Fog. Well, later.

I just wish everyone had felt the same about TSD....it surely deserved much more acclaim that it received. Keith Gordon was so wonderful in putting it all together, keeping it true to Potter's script.... and I also enjoyed the 40's style musical effect and the "Bogart" type detective story. And I agree totally.....Downey's performance was brilliant and certainly on a par with Chaplin...very difficult role(s), certainly much of it he could relate to and he did it all with the perfection and ease that seems to be his trademark. Had really hoped he would be nominated for an award....an Oscar! But I do feel TSD will, after a while, become a classic as the BBC series has, and Downey's performance will be belatedly considered award-worthy.

I do want to see House of Sand and Fog too.....have read some good reviews.

Well, about House of Sand and Fog, it's a melodrama. Usually I don't go in for melodramas but this was an exception. I only mention it because I know that a lot of people are annoyed with melodrama, so I thought I'd give you a heads up. I'm not trying to get you not to see the movie, it is one of the best I've seen this year, but it's not for everyone. Later.

Thanks for your thoughts. Jennifer Connelly was on Letterman last night and they showed a clip from the movie....it does look interesting and I really like Ben Kingsley....and it is still showing at a couple of local theaters. Will try to convince a couple of friends to go with me. Joyce
