Best screenplay ever?

I *beep* loved this movie. I was forced to watch it with my boyfriend and now am SO happy that I did. Random cast I thought, though they worked perfectly in the film. Hilarious screenplay, nice and witty. I loved it. Loved the story, loved Robert Downey, loved it all.

Watch the 80s BBC miniseries, you should love it if you liked this one. It's really great. I haven't seen this movie yet- I'd partly like to (Big fan of most of the cast) but I'm also afraid it won't live up to the original.

If you're a fan of the original, it's worth watching the movie, just to see what they did with it. It's not bad in its own right.

To the OP, the original miniseries is the best screenplay ever.

I know I'm shouting, I like to shout.

I don't think the original mini-series is the best writing every, but it is very good. The film suffers a bit by comparison. It's worth seeing but if I had a choice to watch Downey or Gambon I would go with Gambon.

Downey's a great actor, but you just cannot do as much in a two-hour movie as you can in a miniseries. Everything that took time to develop in the miniseries had to come to life immediately in the movie. It just doesn't work as well.
