Which list do you think is more sensible?
Remember that Ann has two months left to live and Homer only one day (also we may remember that Homer never had sex or another love other than Marge)

Ann: 1. Tell my daughters I love them several times.
Ann: 2. Find Don a new wife who the girls like.
Ann: 3. Record birthday messages for the girls for every year until they're 18.
Ann: 4. Go to Whalebay Beach together and have a big picnic.
Ann: 5. Smoke and drink as much as I want.
Ann: 6. Say what I'm thinking.
Ann: 7. Make love with other men to see what it's like.
Ann: 8. Make someone fall in love with me.
Ann: 9. Go and see Dad in Jail.
Ann: 10. Get false nails. And do something with my hair.

Homer: 1. Make list
Homer: 2. Eat a hearty breakfast
Homer: 3. Make videotape for Maggie
Homer: 4. Have man-to-man talk with Bart
Homer: 5. Listen to Lisa play her sax
Homer: 6. Make funeral arrangement
Homer: 7. Make peace with Dad
Homer: 8. Beer with the boys at the bar
Homer: 9. Tell off boss
Homer: 10. Go hang gliding
Homer: 11. Plant a tree
Homer: 12. A final dinner with my beloved family

Actually, I like his post.
And I like Homers list better. He started out at where Ann arrived: love yourself first, it makes loving others so much easier.

Both lists are good, but Homer's is really less selfish. Someone above wrote how we can compare them - both stories are fictional and Homer story was serious too in that episode, it was not funny.

Or perhaps the writer's of the Simpsons simply thought it was too selfish for someone who thinks they're dying to pawn their kids off on a neighbor so they can cheat on their spouse to "see what it's like".

Homer's list is far far better than Ann's. Ann is selfish and not very reflective. Homer had some kind of moment of clarity, I guess. It doesn't sound like the everyday Homer.

And by the way, I think any of us could make a better list that either of these, with 10 minutes reflection. The point of Ann's list is how callow some people are; even nice people.
