Why was the African lady afraid of Red when he touched her on the shoulder?

no, I don't think it was her. I think Red was telling the lady to move along or hurry up because I guess she was walking too slow, and he touched her on the shoulder and was startled or afraid of him.

In some cultures, it's offensive for women to be touched, even respectfully, by outsiders.
