I remember before Vice City came out, people were scared Tommy Vercetti would talk all the time and be just like Duke Nukem...
Even then, video game characters talked long before Vercetti.

I'm sure i remember many Sierra and Lucasarts adventures from the early 90s and maybe a bit earlier with talking characters. Don't they count ? Probably there are some earlier ones but can't remember exact details now ...
shareHe was at least one of the first major ones, and - in my opinion - arguably the most influential. Liotta's voice acting was all but perfect, took things to a new level, and set a standard for video games that stands to this day.
