Which was better -- book or movie?

I have to say that I have not seen the movie. I have read the book several times.

I adore Rachel Weisz and John Cusack, but I don't picture Nicholas and Marlee being potrayed by them. I would have cast someone else for both parts. I see Marlee as a blonde.

I'm from Texas so the move from smoking to gun control doesn't appeal to me.

Last year, my Mother died from lung cancer due to smoking. So, the book hits home with me.

The only Grisham book that I've liked being made into a movie is: "A Time to Kill". "The Firm" was excellent up until they changed the storyline halfway through.

So, for those who have seen the movie and read the book, which one was better?
