Jury Spinning: New topic for doodlepenny
Anybody think of this movie while serving on a jury? Did you think you could spin other jurors to agree with your verdict?

shareNever served on a jury, so no. I don`t know, maybe if I were passionate enough about my point I can imagine me getting people to agree. Depends on the subject and the baggage everybody on the jury carries with them...
How about you?
Thanks by the way for the topic!! I started thinking no one even looks on this board...
Yes. I served on a jury for an assault case. It was a 6 person panel. The preliminary vote was 4 not guilty, 1 guilty, and 1 undecided. By speaking politely, but with conviction, I showed the "guilty" juror their error and the "undecided" juror fell right in with it. We were out of the jury room in 15 minutes.
shareI think reasonable doubt is usually easier to push than guilt. People like to think they are open-minded and reasonable. Then there's the burden of actual proof.
It's not always the case and all too often the evidence is clear cut toward a guilty verdict. I really do think that I could persuade a jury, but I could also be persuaded.

Never served in a jury so I reckon I am not clever enough to persuade anyone.
